I’m a fantasy author/illustrator living in the tiny town of Gunnison Colorado. I’m deeply interested in all things visual storytelling: animated movies, cartoons, comics, and picture books. I’m also rather fond of muppets.
A bit of a Luddite, I work in traditional mediums like ink, watercolor, and pencil.
My Grandma Wilda Fortune started me on watercolors as a kid. I went on to study art at Western State College in Gunnison Colorado, graduating with a BFA.
I’m currently working on my picture book THE GREEN DUCKLING, set for publication fall 2026. (Yes the protagonist is a dragon!)
Other stories in the works include: DANDELION CAKE, a story about a little anxious dragon with dreams of baking the perfect birthday cake for their beloved friend Earl. TROLL AND MAGPIE, two best friends learning what it means to truly love someone after a wish goes awry. And MAGIC MIM’s COTTAGE, the kittens learn simple spells and nature magic at Mim’s cozy cottage in the woods.
I’m also writing a young adult fantasy about a young boy raised by mountain trolls, who, with the help of some unusual outcasts, must uncover the secrets of his past life in order to heal the land. The jungle book but with rolls, dragons and a lot more magic.
I write for the weirdo kids, young and old who love critters, even the yucky ones like reptiles and bugs and who appreciate a hefty dose of whimsy. When I’m not in the studio I’m outside in the garden, or on a mountain somewhere with my tiny dog and favorite people.
